Mr Obinna Ndukwe Ibiam, the Senior Special Adviser to the Governor of Abia State on Agricultural Empowerment Programs, has resigned due to an unspecified feud with his boss.
Ibiam stated his reasons for resigning and urged the public to hold Governor Okezie Ikpeazu accountable if anything bad happened to him or any of his family members.
According to reports, Ibiam said in a statement to newsmen in Umahia, the state capital, on Sunday that he tried in his capacity to serve the Governor and the state, but that Ikpeazu has shown he doesn’t care about him or the state’s residents, particularly the youths.

According to the political appointee, Ikpeazu has demonstrated a complete lack of interest in replicating what his counterparts in Ebonyi, Imo, Akwa Ibom, Anambra, and Enugu States have done in their respective states, specifically to their unemployed youths, to create jobs through Agricultural Empowerment and boost their people’s economies and their state’s IGR from food production.
Ibiam stated unequivocally that he resigned his position due to the state government’s unconcerned attitude and deliberate refusal to implement policies that would enhance the empowerment and development of Abia youths.
He accused the state government of sabotaging key agricultural programs run by his administration, expressing disappointment that the programs had yet to be implemented despite the approval of 50 million naira in counterpart funds to the Bank of Agriculture for the empowerment of over 3,000 unemployed Abians.

The Abians were recently trained for 90 days at the National Roots Crops Research Institute Umudike library by Resource Persons from the Federal Ministry of Agriculture, Michale Okpara University of Agriculture, and the National Roots Crops Research Institute Umudike led by Ebere Oziri in 36 different agricultural value chains and values.
Ibiam, on the other hand, suggested that Governor Ikpeazu had failed to release the approved 50 million naira counterpart funds through the state’s Accountant General, Kelechi Imeoria, which he claimed Ikpeazu had used to put Abia in an unimaginable backward state, resulting in the state’s high insecurity.
He claimed that the agricultural program will provide participants with low-interest loans, allowing them to become self-sufficient and wealth creators, boosting food security, job creation, and state revenue.
Ibiam, who also served as Special Adviser to ex-Governor Orji Uzor Kalu, revealed that he had written to the governor’s wife, domestic aides, and brothers, pleading with them to assist him and humanity in the release of the approved counterpart funds, which were scaled through the Abia State House of Assembly’s budget approval.

He also claimed that the governor had refused to honor their mutual contractual agreement and assurances until the day of his resignation, claiming that he was leaving the government in peace.
“In tears Your Excellency sir, I pen down this open resignation letter, sorrowfully and painfully, depressed with severe stress emanating from excessive calls and threats by the helpless unemployed youths, women and men who believed in you and I, voted you and trusted you to do better than our former Governor T. A Orji whose empowerment programs was eloquent and impressive to Abians during his tenure,” Ibiam, who also served ex-Governor Theodore Orji, said.
Ibiam, on the other hand, thanked Governor Ikpeazu for appointing him as the youngest Special Adviser on Agricultural Empowerment Programs on merit.
“I have been your ardent supporter and follower, sponsoring promotion of your government programs and policies through my weekly and monthly publication on print media, radio stations, and online media, defending the defenseless even when your current Commissioner for Information, Eze Chikamnayo, and Don Obinna Norman, attacked you and me on Facebook, alleging that you used the Youths Empowerment Programs to syphon billions and divert funds meant for Youths Empowerment,
“Your Excellency Sir, I implore you to find a place in your heart to forgive me and Abians for any wrongdoing we may have committed against you sir,” he continued. “Please appoint whomever you like and implement the Youths Empowerment in Agricultural Program because it has become clear that you are harboring personal grudges against me.” Sir, for the sake of Abians who believe you have released and diverted funds in response to a false alarm from the Commissioner of Information, Eze Chikamnayo, and Don Obinna Norman, please treat me and Abians who are unemployed as you would your own sons.

“As I write this open letter Sir, I have left the state for you to Abuja, and I use this medium to let the world know that, should anything happen to me and my innocent family, you and yours will be held accountable and responsible because I was only trying to serve you and Abia State with my sincere strength, but you have proven, based on your body language against what Ebonyi State Governor, Imo State Go is doing, that you don’t mean well for me and the majority of Abia Youths based on your body language against what Ebonyi State Governor, Imo State Governor, Akwa Ibom State Governor, Anambra State Governor and Enugu State Governors did, specifically to their unemployed Youths to create jobs through Agricultural Empowerment and boost the economy of their people and their State IGR from food production”.
