Six people died in an accident involving two vehicles on the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway on Saturday, according to the FRSC in Ogun.

At Ota, Ogun State, the sector commander, Ahmed Umar, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria.

He claimed that 12 other people were injured in the accident to varying degrees.

Mr Umar stated that the tragic accident, which involved 18 people, occurred at approximately 3.20 a.m.

He identified the two vehicles involved in the collision as a Toyota Hiace bus with the registration number MKA 567 XZ and an Iveco articulated vehicle with the registration number XF 854 KTN, according to him.

“The victims’ bodies have been deposited at Idera Hospital in Sagamu, and the survivors have been transported to various hospitals for treatment,” he said.

He blamed the crash on excessive speeding and a loss of control, and urged drivers to slow down to avoid unnecessary deaths and property damage.

Mr Umar also told NAN that the accident scene yielded N127,900.

He urged people to drive carefully and urged families of those who may have been on the Toyota bus to contact the FRSC Ibafo Outpost for more information.

The sector Commander expressed his condolences to the crash victims’ families and prayed that God would grant them the strength to bear the loss.
