A man accused of preparing charms for Yoruba Nation activist Sunday Adeyemo, also known as Sunday Igboho, has been released by the Department of State Services (DSS).

Pelumi Olajengbesi, one of Igboho’s lawyers, said as much in a statement released on Friday.

The whereabouts of Dada Ifasooto, the alleged herbalist, were unknown until the 12 aides of Igboho, upon their release, revealed that they met him in DSS custody, according to Olajengbesi.

He also claimed that Ifasooto was apprehended by the secret service on July 16, two weeks after its operatives stormed Igboho’s Ibadan home in a Gestapo-style raid, killing two of his aides and arresting 12 others.

The DSS released the 12 detainees on bail a few weeks later, but the whereabouts of the agitator’s aides’ bodies remain unknown.
“This is to announce the release of Mr. Dada Ifasooto, who was secretly arrested by the State Security Service (SSS) on July 16, 2021 on suspicion of being a native doctor who prepares charms for Chief Sunday Igboho.

“Mr. Dada Ifasooto’s whereabouts were unknown for months until one of the released detainees from SSS custody informed our office that he is being held in an underground cell by the Secret Service.

“The bizarre allegations against Mr. Dada Ifasooto and his incarceration defy logical and legal reasoning, and they underpin Chief Sunday Igboho and his associates’ ill-motivated persecution.” It “exposes the State Security Service’s straw-clutching antics in this matter, as well as the ridiculous and unlawful lengths to which the agency is willing to go,” according to the statement.
