On Wednesday, President Muhammadu Buhari joined Nigerians in mourning the death of Otunba Adebayo Alao-Akala, the former governor of Oyo State, who died at the age of 71.

He described Akala as a man with a vision for enforcing good governance and a strong desire to help the poor.
As a result, he expressed his deepest sympathies to the Alao-Akala family, as well as the government and people of Oyo State.

Buhari affirmed what Alao-Akala stood for, saying that as a former police officer and civilian governor with a long political career, he dedicated himself to serving the country and the people of Oyo State, making significant contributions to the development of institutions and communities.

According to Buhari, the late governor’s family, friends, and associates will honor his vision of enforcing good governance in the country and his passion for lifting the downtrodden in society.

Jonathan: Alao-Akala died while his services were still needed.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan has expressed shock at the death of Chief Adebayo Alao-Akala, the former governor of Oyo State, saying that the late politician died while his services were still needed.

Dr. Jonathan described the late Akala as a dedicated public servant and patriot who did his best to serve the country.

“He was a public-spirited individual who excelled in a variety of endeavors in both his private and public lives, and who never tired of giving his all to the task of nation-building.”

“He rose through the ranks as a police officer and diligently served the nation in various capacities before retiring as an Assistant Commissioner of Police.” He was a key figure in Fourth Republic politics, particularly in Oyo State, where he served as deputy governor and governor,” said Dr. Jonathan, noting that he had accomplished a lot.

Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has expressed deep sorrow over the death of Otunba Alao-Akala, saying he would be sorely missed by the people of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and the APC.

“I received the news of the passing of former governor of Oyo State, Otunba Alao-Akala, with shock and deep sadness,” Asiwaju Tinubu said in a statement issued by his Media Office and signed by Mr. Tunde Rahman.

“The death of Alao-Akala, another eminent son of Ogbomoso and Oyo State, comes a month after the death of Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Jimoh Oyewumi.

The Death of Alao-Akala Is a Great Loss — Sanwo-Olu

Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, the governor of Lagos State, described Otunba Alao-death Akala’s as a great loss to his family, the people of Oyo State, particularly the sons and daughters of Ogbomoso, and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Sanwo-Olu also expressed his condolences to the governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde, as well as leaders and members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) at the state and national levels, over the death of the party’s apex leader in Oyo State.

Sanwo-Olu said Alao-shocking Akala’s death has opened a deep sore in the hearts of the people of Oyo State and Nigerians, who looked up to him as a rallying point and a political stabilizer, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Gboyega Akosile, on Wednesday.

The governor also expressed his condolences to the deceased’s family and urged them to remain hopeful, noting that the former governor’s service to the people of Ogbomoso, Oyo State, and Nigeria as a whole will be remembered for a long time.

Okowa: Alao-Akala Was A Patriot And Political Icon

Similarly, Delta governor, Sen. (Dr.) Ifeanyi Okowa, has expressed condolences to the Alao-Akala family, the people of Oyo State, and the state government on the death of the former governor.

Mr. Olisa Ifeajika, Okowa’s Chief Press Secretary, said in an Asaba statement that Alao-death Akala’s at this critical time in the country’s political history was painful and regrettable.

He claimed that as a former deputy governor to Alhaji Rashidi Ladoja and later as governor of the state, the former governor made significant contributions to the development of his state.

“The late Alao-Akala was a patriot and a political icon whose unwavering commitment to serving the people will be remembered for the rest of his life.”

“His contributions to Nigeria’s sociopolitical and economic development, as well as humanity’s, will be indelible.”
