The race for elective positions ahead of the 2023 elections has begun in earnest, with the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) strategizing on how to win.

With the defection of a key APC factional group, Lagos4Lagos, led by Dr. Olajide Adediran, popularly known as “Jandor,” the PDP claimed a major coup in Lagos State.

The Lagos4Lagos group has been at the forefront of efforts in the state to destabilize the APC’s hold on the state, which is thought to be firmly controlled by Ahmed Tinubu, a former governor.

Jandor’s induction into the PDP took place on Friday in Lagos State’s Tafawa Balewa Square, and was attended by a number of PDP governors and other key stakeholders, including the new National Chairman, Iyorchia Ayu; former Senate President, Bukola Saraki; and former PDP Deputy National Chairman, Olabode George.

Seyi Makinde (Oyo State), Dr Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia State), Udom Emmanuel (Akwa Ibom), Dr. Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Nyesome Wike (Nigeria) were among the governors present to welcome Jandor and his supporters into the PDP fold (Rivers).

In his speech, Ayu urged Nigerians not to succumb to the’slavery’ experienced in Lagos State after years of APC rule, mocking President Muhammadu Buhari’s ‘change’ mantra.

“Do you like the change?” What is the cost of a bag of rice? Nigerians were duped. We declare that slavery will no longer exist in Lagos. We will have a PDP governor in Lagos State by this time next year,” he said.

Governor Makinde expressed his delight at the APC’s Lagos4Lagos movement joining the party, stating that their goal was to “reclaim Lagos for the people of Lagos State.”

“We held a Lagos PDP unity rally today.” We also officially welcomed the Lagos4Lagos movement from the APC, led by Dr Abdul-Azeez Olajide Adediran (Jandor), to the PDP. We will reclaim Lagos for the people of Lagos State if we work together,” he stated.

Ikpeazu, for one, emphasized Jandor’s critical role as a “bridge between the young and the old in Lagos politics,” emphasizing that “he should be given full support by all so that there can be unity.”

“On behalf of my brother governors, I would like to welcome new strategic members of our party to the Lagos PDP family,” he said.

“You are critical and strategic.” “The PDP is Nigeria’s only democratic party,” he stated.

Ikpeazu urged members of the state’s PDP family to give Adediran their full support and cooperation so that the defector can contribute his fair share to the party’s growth.

“In Lagos politics, Jandor is the link between the young and the old, and he deserves everyone’s full support so that there can be unity.”

Jandor promised to work hard to ensure that the PDP “takes over Lagos” in the 2023 elections in his speech.

“We’ve declared for the PDP, and we’re going to help the party win.” “We (PDP) are here to add value, to be a part of the big family, and together, we will take over Lagos,” Jandor stated.
