Many Nigerians still adore him, according to Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).
Wike reportedly revealed this on Monday in a media discussion with a few journalists.
The former Rivers State governor expressed hope that if he runs for president, Nigerians will overwhelmingly support him.
The Wike insisted that his accomplishments in Rivers State and the Federal Capital Territory will always speak for him and that he can readily relate to regular Nigerians.
Additionally, Wike stated his confidence that his followers would still prevail in a rerun of the nation’s capital’s recently finished council election.
Nigerians still adore me, he declared, and they will give me a resounding vote if I run for president.
In the meantime, Wike has justified the curfew that was imposed in advance of the Abuja area council elections on February 21, claiming that it was within his authority and that President Bola Tinubu had given his approval.
As the “governor of the FCT,” Wike insisted, he had the power to make security decisions, including limiting travel.
In response to complaints that human and vehicle movement was restricted from 8 p.m. on Friday to 6 p.m. on Saturday, Wike stated that the action was only for security reasons.
