Made Kuti, an Afrobeat musician and the son of the renowned Fela Kuti, has discussed marriage proposals and the process.
The 30-year-old disclosed that he did not propose to his wife, Inedoye Onyenso, on his knees because he feels that a decision should be made by both parties rather than one person pleading on their knees.
In a recent episode of the Timeless Podcast on the Nix Network YouTube channel, the Grammy-nominated musician made this statement.
“I told my wife that it was a shared decision, so I didn’t get down on my knees when I proposed to her. He remarked, “We are not pleading with one another to be together.
In November 2023, Made Kuti and Inedoye Onyenso were married in a private ceremony in Lagos.
Inedoye was once his “school daughter,” according to the artist.
Made responded to accusations in 2025 that he and his Igbo wife, Inedoye, were “mixing blood” because of their disparate ethnic backgrounds.
According to the musician, ethnic prejudice is a “slave mentality.”
