As the wife of actor Daniel Etim-Effiong, Toyosi Etim-Effiong has said, her husband’s ambition to become a filmmaker was evident from the start of their marriage.
In a post on her Instagram profile, she reportedly remembered how, when they first met, Daniel mentioned his desire to make movies while he was a student at the University of Johannesburg, South Africa, earning a Master’s degree in Filmmaking, while she was a student at the New York Film Academy, studying Producing.
She said his love for directing never waned and their job trajectories seemed to fit right away.
Directing short films, documentaries, and ads for well-known companies helped Daniel hone his skills over the years.
He’s already received prizes and recognition for some of his work.
According to Toyosi, his latest picture was supported by years of steady work and a solid creative foundation rather than being an unexpected release.
“I want to make films,” she added, “when I met @etimeffiong and asked him what his life plans were. He said it pretty bluntly.” He was pursuing a master’s degree in filmmaking at the University of Johannesburg in South Africa, while I was pursuing a one-year diploma in producing at the New York Film Academy in New York, so I wasn’t alarmed by his ambition. Indeed, it appeared that our philosophies were highly compatible.
