UGM Attacks Kogi REC’s Residence, Set Cars On Fire (Photos)

On Monday, December 1, 2023 unknown gunmen broke into the residence of Kogi State’s Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC).

This was revealed in a statement released on Monday by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

“In the early hours of today, Friday, December 1, 2023, around 3.30am, gunmen attacked the residence of our Resident Electoral Commissioner (REC) in Lokoja, Kogi State,” the message states in its entirety.

“Until reinforcement arrived, the armed men engaged the security personnel in a gunfight that lasted more than half an hour.”

“In the ensuing gunfight, property was destroyed but no lives were lost. To protect the home, a group of security officers has been dispatched.This happened the day after our state office was overrun by protesters.

“We demand a comprehensive inquiry and increased security measures to safeguard our employees and property in Kogi State.”
