Aminu Tambuwal, a senator from Sokoto South, has declared that former vice president Atiku Abubakar, former presidential contender Peter Obi, and former minister Rotimi Amaechi will back the winner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) presidential contest.
Tambuwal said this while brushing off remarks made by Ayodele Fayose, the former governor of Ekiti State, that Obi is the life of ADC.
“I have been part of the coalition and there is the possibility of transitioning to ADC,” the former governor stated during an appearance on Arise Television’s Prime Time. In order for us to reach a conclusion on that, I’m speaking with our stakeholders in Sokoto as well as others throughout the nation.
However, I have previously stated that I do not support Ayo Fayose, and I continue to stand by that statement.
“I think that the ADC leadership has decided to hold a very transparent primary contest from the very beginning, based on what we have been talking about, and if that happens, all of us in the coalition would back that candidate.
“We will all support Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, and Rotimi Amaechi. I have been playing a significant role in the coalition, so it would be too insensitive for me to come out right now and say vote based on this or that.”
