Senator Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has officially defected to the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
According to reports, the lawmaker would formally register with the opposition party on Thursday, which is today, at the ADC national headquarters in Wuse, Abuja.
Kennedy Mbele, the senator’s media assistant, confirmed this in a statement on Wednesday.
According to him, the action signified Kingibe’s departure from the Labour Party (LP) and her admission into the ADC.
Senior party officials, ADC candidates running in the February 21 FCT local council elections, party sympathizers, and members of the media will all be present at the registration ceremony, according to the statement.
“Kingibe is the only sitting senator in the new but vibrant opposition party thanks to her audacious decision to join the ADC,” Mbele stated.
