Jake Epelle, the founder of TAF Africa, has urged Nyesom Wike, the minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), to concentrate on his official responsibilities and disregard the people of Rivers State.
During an interview on The Morning Brief, a Channels Television program, on Tuesday, Epelle made the call.
In response to the continuous political unrest in Rivers, he emphasized that Wike is not the state’s political godfather.
In democracy, godfatherism does not exist. Nigerian and African political ideology is introduced through godfatherism. For crying out loud, that won’t work. In Rivers State, Wike is not the political godfather. He ought to concentrate on his role as a minister and give Rivers State and its citizens some space.
“You can’t take the Rivers people by the jugular and believe that whatever you say has to happen and everything you didn’t say can’t. It is not going to occur.
“People who are resilient, determined, and peaceful will rise up and continue to speak truth to power.”
“Leave Rivers State and its people alone, and let him remain as FCT minister and do whatever he needs to do in Abuja.”
