The Police Service Commission (PSC) is expected to hold a hearing this week on a probe panel report on suspended Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Mr. Abba Kyari, which was submitted to it by the Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Mr. Alkali Usman.
The IGP had submitted to the PSC the report of the probe panel on the suspended Head of the Intelligence Response Team.
Kyari was investigated by Abbas Ramon, aka Hushpuppi, and four other people for his alleged role in a $1.1 million internet scam.

The investigation was launched in response to Kyari’s indictment by the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI), which recommended that he be extradited to the US for trial.
Mr. Braimoh Adogame Austin, a member of the PSC, said the commission would discuss the issue this week.
“The IGP has submitted Abba Kyari’s report to the PSC, which will begin deliberations this week.” He said, “I don’t know when it was submitted, but it’s now with the commission.”
Hushpuppi and others were arrested by the Dubai Police in the United Arab Emirates in June 2020.
They were later extradited to the United States, where the FBI would prosecute them.
Hushpuppi hired Kyari, according to FBI Special Agent Andrew Innocenti, after a “co-conspirator,” Chibuzo Vincent, threatened to expose the alleged $1.1 million fraud against a Qatari businessman.
Kyari was accused of profiting from the proceeds of a $1.1 million internet scam.
On July 29, Kyari took to Facebook to deny the allegations, but he later deleted the post after numerous edits.

Kyari’s suspension had been recommended by police, and the PSC acted on it on July 31.
The Special Investigation Panel, led by Mr Joseph Egbunike, Deputy Inspector-General of Police in Charge of the Force Criminal Investigations Department, was established by the IGP on August 2, 2021, to investigate the allegations.
The panel’s report, which Egbunike described as the “outcome of a painstaking, transparent, and exhaustive investigative process,” was submitted on August 26.
He said the report included the probe’s case file, evidence and findings, as well as testimonies from Kyari and other people and groups involved in the case.
During a television interview on September 14, the Minister of Police Affairs, Maigari Dingyadi, said the findings and recommendations on Kyari had been submitted to the Attorney-General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, for “legal opinion” before being presented to President Muhammadu Buhari, adding that the PSC would make the final decision.
