Abuja, 26 June 2025 In an attempt to spark new political discourse ahead of the general elections in 2027, former Labour Party presidential candidate Peter Obi met strategically in Abuja with former Attorney-General of the Federation and Minister of Justice Abubakar Malami.
The Obidient Movement Worldwide’s acting national coordinator, Dr. Yunusa Tanko, verified the meeting, which was held at Malami’s office on Wednesday, June 25, 2025. Tanko shared the news on X, formerly Twitter, and explained that the meeting was a part of Peter Obi’s continuous efforts to forge coalitions throughout Nigeria’s political landscape.
“The Obidient Movement has welcomed a new senior member as of today, June 25, 2025. This is a component of our goal to create connections and free Nigerians from the struggles they encounter on a daily basis,” Tanko said.

Obi and Malami are shown having a friendly conversation in photos from the meeting, which has raised questions about a potential political alliance or partnership. Although the meeting was important, Tanko later explained in an interview with TheCable that Malami has not officially joined the Obidient Movement.
The Obidient Movement, which became a powerful political force in the 2023 elections, is still gaining traction as a forum for public engagement, reform, and inter-party discussion.
