Governor Adegboyega Oyetola of Osun State has called for peace and national integration as Nigeria commemorates its Armed Forces and Remembrance Day.

On Sunday, he made the appeal at a commemoration of the day in Osogbo, the state capital, where he praised the officers and men of the Armed Forces for their patriotism and sacrifices.

He emphasized that Nigerians have a responsibility to continue to show love and unity to one another in order to ensure that the nation’s valiant soldiers’ sacrifices are not in vain.

At a thanksgiving service held at the Christ Foundation Gospel Church in Osogbo, Oyetola said that each person’s decision to love and serve the country is a strong thread that binds the country together.

“The patriotism and sacrifice of the Armed Forces have taught us that we are all in this together; that one’s success edifies the rest of us, while one’s death or failure diminishes the rest of us; that we succeed when we pray together and act in love; and that our individual decision to love and serve our country is a strong cord for welding our nation together.”

“As beneficiaries of our gallant soldiers’ sacrifices and commitments, we must continue to show love and demonstrate unity toward one another to ensure that their efforts are not in vain.” As a state, a nation, and a people, we have a responsibility to support and love their families. As a church, a state, and a nation, we have a responsibility to pray for them,” he said.

The governor urged Nigerians to recommit themselves to God so that his plan for humanity, the state, and the nation could be realized.
