Dr. Amina Sani Bello, the wife of the Niger State Governor, has launched the second round of the COVID-19 vaccination and routine immunisation for children in the state’s Chanchaga and Bosso Local Government Areas, emphasising the need for Nigerians to be more aware of the virus’s developing nature.

“Let us be more cognizant of the virus’s changing character, particularly the mutation of the delta and omicron forms,” she said.

Bello further urged “all stakeholders to mobilise all eligible persons in our households and communities to go for vaccination and be protected,” noting that “the COVID-19 pandemic is still spreading across the world and in our country,” and that “the COVID-19 immunisation is free.”

Those who have been vaccinated may need a third shot “to serve as a booster” and assurance, according to the first lady.

“I urge you all to continue to observe and follow the COVID-19 prevention and guidelines,” she stated, promising that the state government “will continue to execute high-impact health programmes for the benefit of women and children.”

Medical specialists will administer vitamin A supplementation for children aged 6 months to 59 months, deworm an undefined number of children, and provide antenatal care to nursing moms throughout the one-week exercise, according to Bello.
