Adewale Kudabo, a Nigerian medical employee, was given a one-year prison sentence by a UK court for sexually abusing a patient while he was working at York medical.
Kudabo was imprisoned on June 10 after entering a guilty plea to two charges of sexual assault on the first day of his trial in April.
According to Judge Alex Menary, Kudabo “abused the trust” that was placed in him as a medical practitioner.
Menary told Kudabo in court, “You abused that trust,” pointing out that the victim had trusted him when he was at his most vulnerable.
The prosecution claims that Kudabo was tasked with bathing a patient who was in excruciating discomfort. He reportedly kissed her on the lips after helping her, which the victim attempted to avoid despite her condition.
The victim was left feeling bewildered and extremely uneasy, according to prosecutor Henry Fernandez.
Kudabo allegedly went back to the same patient a few days later, offered her another “bed bath,” and tried to kiss her once more.
The victim experienced severe emotional anguish as a result of the incident, including anxiety and flashbacks, the court heard.

Jerry Sodipe, his attorney, said Kudabo, who had no past convictions, was sorry.
“Yes, he is guilty, he shouldn’t have done that,” Sodipe told the court, holding out his hands.
According to Sodipe, Kudabo and his family had relocated from Nigeria to the UK for work, but he has since lost his job as a result of the incident.
In a statement, the York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, which is in charge of York Hospital, said it offered the victim its “sincere apologies” and verified that Kudabo had resigned from his job soon after the attack.
According to Judge Menary, Kudabo cannot be released until he has completed half of his 12-month term.
