Emmanuel Ejekwu, often known as Sabinus, is a Nigerian skitmaker who has disclosed that his father was initially upset with him for choosing to pursue a career in comedy.
In an interview with media personality VJ Adams, Sabinus reportedly said that, despite his father’s desire for him to become a lawyer, he ultimately chose to major in linguistics and communication studies after failing to get into law school.
Sabinus claimed that while attending the University of Port Harcourt, he developed his sense of humor and started creating skits.
The comedian claimed that after learning that he was a sketch maker, his father regretted paying for his schooling and called the industry a foolish one.
Sabinus continued by saying that after he began giving him gifts from his comic earnings, his father finally gave him his blessing.
“At first, my dad never wanted me to be what I am today, he wanted me to be a lawyer,” he stated. Despite my best efforts, I was unable to gain admission to law school. I was therefore forced to enroll in Uniport’s Linguistics and Communication Studies program.
“I decided to give skit-making a shot after seeing it on college. There would be no money.
Because I kept it a secret, my dad was unaware that I was a comic after I graduated. After another year of school, he began to see me on advertisements for comedic shows. My sisters told him that I enjoyed comedies. He was quite angry. “Which comedy?” he raged. Business is stupid. Observe the boy I sent to pursue a career in law.
