Timaya, the plantain boy crooner, is known for his consistent hit songs that mix pop and dancehall at times. This year, his recent hit songs “Born to Win” and “Cold Outside” propelled him back to the top of the charts. The hitmaker is also known for lending a helping hand to young Nigerian musicians in need.

Some of these artists have spoken about their interactions with DM Records’ CEO.

Timaya. He recently told his fans at a concert that when he was struggling to get a big break, he met Timaya, slept in his house, and received a lot of support from him. When Timaya joked that Patoranking didn’t mention his name in his rave song “Celebrate me,” he responded. Timaya, according to Patoranking, made sure he had free studio time, which led to the creation of his “Alubarika” single.

Patoranking left DM Mama Records for unknown reasons, but they appear to have maintained a friendly relationship.

When Eedris Abulkareem called Timaya an ingrate, Patoranking defended her. Timaya was one of the boys who gave Eedris his big break by putting him on his stage, but he never supported him or other artists, according to Eedris.

Skales

Skales, the singer of “shake body,” said in an interview that he recorded the famous song while living in Timaya’s mansion.

“One day, I went to Timaya’s house, and it was late at night,” Skales explained. I didn’t know where I was going. “Skales is outside sleeping in the car,” the gateman informed me as I slept in the car outside Timaya’s house. Timaya came over and inquired as to what was going on. He noticed my bags in the back of the car, implying that I was effectively living in a mobile home. Timaya invited me to live with him and offered me his penthouse, which was quite large. That’s where ‘Shake Body’ was recorded. Despite the fact that other artists such as Olamide contributed to the song’s success, “shake body” would have remained in the songwriter’s books, stacked alongside his luggage in the back of the car.

Burna Boy is a rapper who is well-known for

Burna Boy, a grammy award-winning artist, has also thanked Timaya for giving him invaluable advice. This was around the time he declared himself Nigeria’s best musician and began to receive backlash for it.

Burna Boy stated that he was not competing with anyone other than himself because he remembered something Timaya told him a long time ago, and he twitted as follows:

“FACT! I’ve always known I was and continue to be THE BEST. Since Fela Kuti, everyone you think is the best KNOWS I’m the best. But a long time ago, @timayatimaya told me something that made me stop caring about being the best. “The World Can Do Without the Best” despite the fact that the world will continue to spin.

“Lol. NO ONE paved the way for me. Everyone is looking for their own. If you knew how they made us look weak by begging and paying the western world to like us, you’d see that no table was set, and I’m the one who brought you the respect you now have.”
