The need for Nigerians especially the military to constantly appreciate and celebrate the unique, diverse ethnic and rich cultural composition of the country has again been stressed.
The Commander, Nigerian Army Sobi Cantonment, Ilorin Abdulsalam Abubakar made the submission at the 2021 West Africa Social Activities (WASA),2021,an event set aside to celebrate the rich and diverse cultural heritage of officers of the Nigerian Army and their family members.
Speaking on the importance of the West Africa Social Activities of the Nigerian Army, Commander of the 22 Armoured Brigade, Sobi Cantonment Ilorin, Abdulsalam Abubakar noted that the social event affords the Army the opportunity to appraise the performance of the officers in any given year, which includes the approach to training, operations and administration in the areas of responsibility and keeping focus on the Chief of Army Staff Vision of having a professional Nigerian Army ready to accomplish assigned missions within joint environment in defense of Nigeria.
He added that focus would be shifted to the training and operational matters for 2022.
Meanwhile, in his remarks, the Kwara State Governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq commended the efforts of the Nigerian Army and other security agencies to protect the National territorial integrity and check criminality, keeping the state peaceful.
High points of the event was award presentation to some deserving officers and various cultural dances.
