A 57-year-old man has been arrested in Adamawa State for allegedly stabbing his 40-year-old wife to death.

The man, a commercial driver, was apprehended “on New Year’s Day, 01/01/2022,” according to a press release issued by the state Police Command on Sunday.

“After a brief argument, the suspect, Muhammed Alfa, a resident of Lande B village in the Gombi local government area, stabbed his wife, Hamsatu Muhammad, with a knife,” the police said in a statement signed by Suleiman Nguroje, the Police Public Relations Officer.

The deceased wife had previously separated from the man and moved to a different house, according to the police.

“In order to fix her new room, she removed a zink door from her previous home and installed it in her new apartment.” “Angered by her actions, the suspect pulled out a knife and stabbed his wife and mother of his children in the neck,” according to the police.

It went on to say that the woman was knocked out by the stabbing and was rushed to the hospital, where she was pronounced dead.

“Police in Gombi Divisional Headquarters apprehended the suspect after receiving a report from Jauro Babangida Boka village head, Iande,” the police command said.

The suspect had eight children with the deceased, according to the report.

The police promised a thorough investigation and that the suspect would be prosecuted properly.
