Dr. Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate, has expressed his condolences to the family of Alhaji Bashir Othman Tofa, the late candidate of the defunct National Republican Convention (NRC) in the 1993 presidential election, who died on Monday.

In a condolence message sent yesterday, Lawan expressed his condolences to the government and people of Kano State over the late politician’s death. He also expressed his condolences to Tofa’s friends and political allies.

The Senate President described Tofa’s death as a “great loss” to the country, describing him as an astute politician.

“My heartfelt condolences to Alhaji Bashir Tofa’s family, as well as the government and people of Kano State.”

“Alhaji Tofa made a name for himself as a savvy politician, businessman, and industrialist.

“Not only for the people of Kano State, but for the entire country, his death is a great loss.”
