Hon. Adewale Temitope Adedeji, a politician from Lagos, has criticized US President Donald Trump’s recent tough stance against Nigeria, arguing that the Bola Tinubu administration should receive praise, international cooperation, and support rather than threats.
In a statement released on Friday, November 7, Adedeji, the Lagos State House of Assembly representative for Ifako-Ijaiye Constituency I, made this claim in reaction to Trump’s condemnation and warning of potential U.S. military intervention over alleged persecution of Christians in Nigeria.
President Tinubu, according to the legislator, is fully aware of the nation’s security issues and has taken immediate action to address them.
“As a father, President Bola Tinubu is not happy that bandits, terrorists, or whatever name-tag they have, have tried to downplay the gains of this administration,” he said. For this reason, he gave the recently constituted service chiefs instructions to finally eliminate the nation’s instability. Terrorists and their backers will never be given preferential treatment by the current administration.
He stressed that the President’s recent reorganization of the military command demonstrates his dedication to stabilizing the country and reestablishing security in volatile areas.
According to Adedeji, Nigeria has made quantifiable economic progress in the past two years, drawing recognition and investment from around the world.
“Different data have shown inflation dropping for the first time in years,” he said, citing macroeconomic factors that point to a recovery. While reviving dormant industries, the administration has drawn multibillion-dollar investments. The government is headed in the right direction, as demonstrated by economic statistics.
The congressman also pointed out that the value of the naira has improved and that subnational governments now have more budgetary capability.
He stated, “State governments are at ease for the first time because they now have a degree of economic power.”
Instead of escalating hostilities, Adedeji urged the US to work with Nigeria.
In the sake of our people, Nigeria currently demands international cooperation from the United States and other countries. “Let our citizens and youth remain patient and have faith in the Renewed Hope Agenda,” the legislator emphasized.
Adedeji asked Nigerians to keep up their support for the military and security services as they fight terrorism.
“We need to motivate our new military chiefs to meet expectations and make sure they put an end to the nation’s militants. Knowing that the government’s enormous efforts would best fulfill our aspirations, let’s support them,” he continued.
