Members of the “City Boy Movement” (CBM) have been accused by veteran actor and politician Kenneth Okonkwo of selling their morality for private benefit.
In a recent Symfoni TV interview, Okonkwo claimed that the supporters of President Bola Tinubu’s reelection campaign are political scavengers.
He claimed that the current government is “feeding on crumbs” that fall from the President’s table because of their alignment.
Okonkwo continued by saying that the Igbo people had disassociated themselves from the movement.
He contended that the conduct of some local politicians who have supported the President do not reflect the dignity or collective will of the Ndigbo.
They’ve been rejected by the Igbo. Ndigbo is insulted by it. We wear our Isiagu because, like lions, we hunt with honor and consume fresh flesh. “Unlike vultures, we do not scavenge,” Okonkwo said.
He went on to call people using the movement to gain political favor “political children drinking from Tinubu’s feeding bottle” and stated that he would prefer to keep his dignity than pursue importance through what he called “rotten crumbs.”
Okonkwo, a well-known opposition figure in recent years, insisted that his income has always stemmed from his abilities and capabilities rather than political favoritism.
