The President, Major General Muhammadu Buhari (retd.), on Thursday, ordered security agents to swiftly arrest and punish the perpetrators of the recent attack in Zangon Kataf Local Government Area of Kaduna State, that left at least 10 people dead and several others injured.

In a statement signed by the President’s Senior Special Assistant on Media and Publicity, Garba Shehu, Buhari said the return of terrorist attacks in the region was shocking.

The statement is titled ‘President Buhari condemns renewed terrorist attack in Zangon Kataf.’

Around 09:00 pm on Wednesday, gunmen reportedly raided Langson community in the Atyap Chiefdom of Zangon Kataf killing over 10 people and injuring many others.

The attackers who shot sporadically also looted a shop in the area before they were repelled by mobile policemen.

It is one of several attacks by armed militias that have killed thousands of Kaduna South residents in the past seven years.

It also comes three months after terrorists killed 40 residents in Mallagum and Sogwon communities in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

Reacting to the development, the President said “There is a concerted attack on innocent citizens in the state and the security and law enforcement agencies must take serious action to put an end to this.”
