Following U.S. President Donald Trump’s warning to send American troops to Nigeria due to purported terrorist attacks on Christians, the Office of the National Security Adviser (NSA) and senior security officials are expected to brief the media on Monday afternoon.
The proposal was reportedly revealed by Mallam Lanre Issa-Onilu, the Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), at the monthly National Joint Security Press Briefing in Abuja.
According to him, the media interaction would address recent claims of genocide and give Nigerians and the world community the official stance of the federal government.
He said the event will also emphasize the government’s continued efforts to combat criminal activity and instability throughout the nation.
According to Issa-Onilu, the joint briefing—which has evolved into a monthly accountability platform—will provide in-depth information about the security services’ operations, reforms, and cooperative tactics.
Remember that on October 31, 2025, President Trump issued a statement accusing the Nigerian government of ignoring terrorists’ “mass killing of Christians.”
If Nigeria did not move quickly, he threatened to “send troops or carry out airstrikes.”
Since then, the Nigerian government, acting through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, has denied the allegations as false and maintained that there is no religious motivation for violence in the nation.
