Following an air raid on a forest in Zamfara State, the Nigerian Air Force said it had killed two notorious bandit leaders, Alhaji Auta and Kachalla Ruga.

According to sources, the notorious bandit leaders were killed last Friday night after a NAF aircraft, operating under Operation Hadarin Daji, bombarded their enclaves at Gusami Forest and Tsamre Village in the Birnin Magaji local government area of the state, based on credible intelligence.

Multiple airstrikes by the NAF jet, which were carried out in the early hours of Saturday, have also resulted in the deaths of several other bandits, according to sources.

Another source told Channels TV that the military jet killed some bandits while retrieving the body of the bandits’ leader Alhaji Auta from the bombardment site.

Residents believe that if this level of action is maintained, Zamfara State and the entire northwest region will be restored to the “peaceful region” it once was.
