Nigerian singer GoodGirl LA, whose real name is Euphemia Ekumah, has opened up about her challenging relationship with her father.
She reportedly stated that she chose to pursue her love of music over pursuing further education.
The “Bless Me” singer stated in an interview with Hip TV that her greatest life regret is not dedicating more time to education rather than beginning her musical career sooner.
She claimed that she wished she had never written JAMB or let her father pressure her into going to school when she was more interested in music.
According to GoodGirl LA, her father’s response to her refusal to pursue her education was severe.
For defying him, he disowned her and sent her out of the house.
According to the singer, she was just 16 at the time and unsure of her future plans, but by the time she was 17 or 18, she was resolved to make music her full-time career.
Eventually, she discovered her calling in show business and released well-known songs.
Her family eventually came to terms with her choice and made amends after witnessing her development and acknowledgment as one of Nigeria’s up-and-coming musical talents.
“I’ve never felt bad about not finishing school,” she remarked. I wish I had never attended school. I wish I had departed sooner. I only have that remorse. I wish I hadn’t written JAMB. I wish I had fled when my father made me write JAMB.
When I informed my parents that I had lost interest in attending school, my father ordered me to vacate his home. It was bizarre. My father once even disowned me. I left home after that.
