According to Hannatu Musawa, Minister of Art, Culture, and Creative Economy, in order to maintain equity and balance, authority should continue to reside in the South in the upcoming term.
Former President Muhammadu Buhari, who hails from the North-West, was reportedly replaced by President Bola Tinubu, who hails from the South-West.
Musawa stated that authority should continue in southern Nigeria for the purpose of fairness, notwithstanding discussions of which region should elect the president in 2027, particularly in light of the recently established coalition on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
In an interview with Channels Television on Friday, Musawa said he hoped Nigeria would ultimately get to a stage where candidates are evaluated only on their qualifications. She did concede, though, that the nation is still a ways off.

“It makes sense that power had to move to the South after eight years of President Buhari, who is from the North,” she remarked. As things stand, the southern presidency will hold power for the next two to four years. Ideally, power will remain with the southern presidency for the following four years in order to maintain that kind of equilibrium.
“Hopefully, we’ll be able to move past it one day and evaluate applicants only on their qualifications and contributions. However, since we are not yet there, power should undoubtedly stay in the southern region of the country for the next four to six years in order to gain from this politics. For the next six years, power should remain in the south in order to establish equilibrium.
