Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has cautioned former Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF) Babachir Lawal over his comments on the Yoruba people.
Lawal was said to have previously said that the Yorubas are unreliable.
According to him, Yorubas tend to minimize the assistance they get from others once they succeed.
Babachir stated, “The Yoruba have the difficulty of acting as though they have conquered you when you back them and they win. They won’t take your backing into account.
Fani-Kayode cautioned, however, via X on Wednesday that casting doubt on an entire race would make Lawal’s case weaker.

“My dear brother Babachir Lawal,” he wrote, “I advise you to be very careful with your words and your characterization of an entire race.”
Attacking the Yoruba race doesn’t help your argument, even though you know I have a warm spot for you. It undermines your credibility, devalues you, and weakens your case.
Babachir was also reminded by Fani-Kayode that he was the nominee of President Bola Tinubu for the post of SGF in the administration of the late Muhammadu Buhari.
