Aloy Ejimakor, the lawyer for Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), says that a lot of Igbo young people don’t want to vote in any elections as long as Kanu is in Sokoto’s correctional center.
Ejimakor said this while talking about why the “City Boy” movement, which supports President Bola Tinubu’s re-election in 2027, didn’t get much support in Nigeria’s Southeast.
Remember that the “City Boy” movement chose Obinna Iyiegbu, a well-known hotelier and businessman who goes by the name Obi Cubana, to be its Southeast Coordinator.
But the last events held by the “City Boy” movement in Imo State were not very successful.
Ejimakor wrote on 𝕏 about recent political events in the Southeast and said that his research showed that the movement was having a hard time because many young people in the region didn’t care about electoral politics.
He says that Kanu’s ongoing imprisonment is the main thing that is affecting people’s political views in the area.
He said, “From what I’ve learned, the City Boys movement quickly failed in the Southeast because most Igbo youths don’t care about any general elections that will happen while Mazi Nnamdi Kanu is in jail.”
“That’s the #BigElephant in the room for them right now.”
