Confusion!!! Two Chieftains Presents Self As Ohaneze Ndigbo President In Lagos, Attracts Curious Reactions.

Who is the real Ohaneze President General in Lagos, 2022?
It could be recalled that sometimes back, Chief Solomon Ogbonna Aguene’s tenure elapsed as the President of Ohaneze in Lagos. Chief Solomon by court judgement got an extension to his tenure to sit as the president for another 4yrs against the existing law of “The socio-cultural organisation”.
By order of zoning and representation, the Ohaneze Ndigbo executives elected Chief Sunday Ossai as the new leader of the Igbos in Lagos, having in context an evident disagreement that Chief Solomon’s 4 year tenure is extended.
Press men observed the seemingly silent rivalry between two individuals who claims outrightly the position of the Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos during a coronation ceremony done in Alimosho Lagos where title men from various regions were seen in attendance.
To get a clear picture of what seemed like a tight aired presence, the press men present had a media chat with a few Traditional leaders to get an insight as to what went down.
Speaking with the Chief Chris Ekocha, PG Imo state, Chairman of the president of South East in Lagos, Vice president Ohaneze Ndigbo, he blatantly refused to address the topic of two persons representing self as Ohaneze Ndigbo Lagos, he was only able to note that Chief Ossai is the President General of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos, there was an election and Chief Ossai emerged. He mentioned that one of the agendas of the newly elect is to cut down the sizes in representation of large numbers of Ezes to fit into only the 57 local govt in Lagos, noting that Ezes everywhere seemed very unreasonable. He also mentioned that Ohaneze is about the Igbo culture and shouldn’t dabble into politics, Ohaneze is a socio cultural group not a political group.
Okpoko 1 of Ijegun/Ijeododo, Eze Chika Nwokedi aka “The Digital Eze”as fondly called by Journalists spoke in earnest about these very confusing episodes where two persons presents self as the Ohaneneze President in functionaries. He said the problems the igbo organisation has is unity and greed, noting that some will see the truth and support evil due to personal gains. The igbos should try to say the truth for once and do things accordingly not because of money he noted.
Eze Chika Nwokedi further mentioned that Ohaneze Ndigbo are into two fractions, even the igbo speaking committee are also in two fractions due to diagreements, the truth must be told, whoever supports evil will be consumed someday by the evil he or she had sown, let the igbos find a way to settle this looming crisis. He told pressman that he is disinterested in the caucus or groups formed to be in support or against themselves but will always say his piece when the need arises. If the interest of all igbos is paramount, there will be no room for discord, affirming that the discord is for the financial gains hoped to achieve in 2023 election a reason for division amongst the Cheiftains. I’m a king to give my kingdom food not politics, let all igbo stake holders come out to settle the matter, the kings are sleeping with their 2 eyes closed when the house is on fire. “He who sows the seed of discord will definitely reap chaos”, he noted.
An interview with Eze Chikwado Lawrence, The Chairman of Ohaneze Ndigbo Amuwo Odofin Local Government alongsides his deputy and vice chairman representing enugu, Eze Chikwado noted that having many “Ezes” in the fold is a good thing irrespective of the differences or political disagreements that abounds as all igbos are seen as one to support and celebrate one another as observed in the occasion held in Alimosho Lagos.

Speaking about the differences brewing in the leadership position of Ohaneze Ndigbo in Lagos where two persons represents self as president, one by court judgement for an extension and the other by election, he noted that he believes the rivalry seen is all in the interest of 2023 election. He said that the elected president general in Lagos is Chief Sunday Ossai, the other feels the court judgement gives him the right to be there, we can call both our president for now as we are looking into the matter. After much ado there will be a conclusion for one to emerge and all to be at peace. All this is a matter of interest and will be resolved in due time, he quipped.
