A bye-election will be held on Saturday, August 16, 2025, by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to fill the vacancy in the House of Representatives’ Ibadan North Federal Constituency.
The seat was left empty after the All Progressives Congress (APC) member Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi (also known as Jagaban) passed away on July 10, 2024, at the age of 51.
The bye-election will take place in the 512 polling places and 12 wards that comprise the constituency. Five political parties will be putting up candidates to compete.
Dexter Femi Akin-Alamu of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Adewale Haastrup Olatunji of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Olabisi Olajumoke Odususi of the All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA), Fola Sunday Oyekunle of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and Hammed Badmus of the Zenith Labour Party (ZLP) were the five candidates who signed a peace agreement in Oyo State at the Independent National Election Commission’s (INEC) headquarters.

Dr. Tella Adeniran, the INEC Commissioner, reports that 217,980 voters have picked up their PVCs, 272,196 voters have registered, and 2,062 poll workers are ready.
The workout is scheduled to start at 8.30 a.m. and end at 2.30 p.m.
The following regions will be restricted in terms of vehicle movement: Agbowo/UI, Agbowo/Expressway, Beere/Oje/Odoye, Mokola axis/Adamasingba axis, Sango/Eleyele, Apete/Ijokodo, Gate/Basorun/Ashi, Samonda/Bodija/Ikolaba, and Yemetu/Inalende.
