Former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose has been cleared of all charges in the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission’s (EFCC) protracted money laundering case.
On Tuesday, July 16, 2025, a Federal High Court in Lagos reportedly rendered the decision, finding that the EFCC’s evidence was insufficient to support the charges.

By essentially holding that the prosecution had not proven a sufficient case against Fayose to support a further defense, the court upheld his no-case submission.
Remember that during his time as governor, Fayose was on trial for charges that he had committed fraud and money laundering.
