According to reports, Tajudeen Baruwa’s wing of the National Union of Road and Transport Workers, or NURTW, has gained control of the union’s national secretariat.

Members of the faction invaded the union’s Abuja headquarters early on Monday, initiating the takeover.
According to reports, there has been an internal leadership conflict between the NURTW sections commanded by Baruwa and Ayinde Akinsanya, also referred to as MC Oluomo, since 2024.
In November 2024, MC Olumo was elected National President by NURTW members.
But when the disagreement resulted in a lawsuit, the court decided in Baruwa’s favor.
MC Olumo has maintained his position as President in spite of the court’s decision.
