Four children perished in an explosion caused by an improvised explosive device (IED) in Banki town, Bama Local Government Area, according to Borno State Police.

According to ASP Keneth Daso, a police public relations officer, the explosion happened on Friday at approximately 12:40 p.m. behind Banki Motor Park in Wajari Ward.
Mustapha Tijja, a 12-year-old child, was hurt while playing in a temporary structure behind the car park with four companions, according to the police. The IED, which was allegedly discovered in the bush, unintentionally went off. After being sent to the FHI 360 Clinic, Mustapha is still undergoing treatment.

Awana Mustapha, 15, Malum Modu, 14, and Lawan Ibrahim and Modu Abacha, both 12, were the four youngsters that passed away.

The region has returned to normal, and investigations are still underway. CP Naziru Abdulmajid, the Commissioner of Police, advised people to report suspicious items right away and to refrain from handling unknown materials.
