On Thursday, a group within the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ondo State rejected worries that the newly formed African Democratic Congress (ADC) coalition would pose a threat to the ruling party prior to the general elections in 2027.
According to reports, the political group’s application coincides with former Vice President Atiku Abubakar’s official registration as an ADC member in Adamawa State, which has raised rumors that he would run for president on the party’s platform.
Interest in opposition realignment has increased due to rumors that Atiku would run as the ADC’s presidential flagbearer in the general election of 2027.
However, the ADC poses “no threat” to President Bola Tinubu’s bid for a second term, according to a statement released on Thursday (today) by Adesuyi Adojutelegan, the Director-General of the Ondo APC group.
The ADC’s inability to overthrow the APC is evident. We are aware that Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, the former vice president, has suddenly joined them, but we are not concerned because Tinubu would still win even if he runs for president,” he said.
Prior to the 2027 elections, Adojutelegan urged APC members to step up their mobilization in Ondo South. Adojutelegan had previously inaugurated the group’s ward and local government coordinators in Okitipupa.
“To be honest, Tinubu has no opponents for this upcoming election in 2027,” he continued. The President’s performance is self-explanatory.
He claims that Tinubu’s efforts to address insecurity are evident.
He stated, “Everyone can see that he is actively addressing our security challenges, and I am confident he will make Nigeria safer so that everyone can live without fear or intimidation.”
Citing two years of “numerous achievements,” especially in the area of national road infrastructure, Adojutelegan insisted that Tinubu is still Nigeria’s best option, characterizing the ADC as “a party of aggrieved politicians trying to undermine Tinubu’s achievements.”
Additionally, he mentioned Tinubu’s student loan program and economic measures as examples of policies that “enhance educational access for underprivileged students.”
The coordinator of the organization praised Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, the interior minister, for what he described as “invaluable support to the APC structure in the state.”
He tasked the recently appointed coordinators with aggressively spreading the Tinubu message throughout localities.
“I urge all of you to participate in vigorous campaigning throughout the six local government areas of the southern senatorial district,” he declared.
