Posted By Onome Naomi

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, has alleged that former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha is evading service on charges brought against him over alleged N2.9Billion fraud.

The commission made this known on Tuesday at the Federal High Court Abuja, presided by Justice Inyang Ekwo.

Mr. Cosmos Ugwu, counsel to the commission lamented that the former governor has made himself unreachable while other Defendants in the charge were in court.

My lord, ordinarily, this matter is for arraignment, but unfortunately, the 1st Defendant is not in court”, he told the court.

“We made several efforts to serve the 1st Defendant with the charge but could not succeed. All the other Defendants have been served”.

He said that the retinue of security operatives surrounding the Senator have made it impossible for Okorocha to be served in person by court officials.

The EFCC prayed the court for a new date to enable them effect service on the former governor.
