2023: Omoragbon knocks Presidential candidates, says none has Research & Monitoring Department to study emerging trends

By Cyriakus Nnaji

National Deputy Chairman (South-South) of the National Conscience Party and former Governorship candidate in Edo State, Pastor Peters Osawaru Omoragbon, has knocked the presidential candidates of the major political parties for not having Research & Monitoring Department for the study of emerging trends.

Omoragbon, who made the disclosure at a press conference in Lagos State on Thursday, February 9, 2023, maintained that the candidates appear to be interested only in themselves and their opponents and not the issues affecting the common man on the street.

While speaking on issue based campaign he said none of the candidates is holding those in government to account for the abnormalities in the system. “Almost all of them are guilty of this. They appear to be interested only in themselves and their opponents and not the issue affecting the common man on the street. How many of the contestants condemned the sudden fuel scarcity and the cash swap on behalf of the people? They were just pleading with the government to extend or help ameliorate the people suffering without holding those in government to account. None of the Parties have a Research and Monitoring Department 24/7 to carry out researches on emerging trends and solutions to problems. All they did was to accuse and counter accuse one another in the print, electronic and social media. What has the gaffes by any candidate got to do with issues affecting the people? Even their spokespersons are so unintelligent that, they re-echo their ‘Masters’ voices’.”

He also accused the candidates of not sharing their party manifesto to the public for perusal. “None of the candidates have shared their Party’s Manifestoes for the public to read. I recalled when we contested the 2003 elections under the leadership of our Leader and Founder, the late Chief Gani Fawehinmi, the NCP Ten Care Programme and Chief Gani Manifesto were printed and published in three Nigerian major languages-Ibo, Hausa and Yoruba. They were advertised. How many adverts have you seen in both print and electronic media promoting their programs and manifestoes? None.”

He stated that is an aberration for a candidate to appear on a campaign ground without manifesto of his party “You do not go to any campaign ground without your programs and manifestoes printed in large quantities to be distributed. That is what you should read from and not speaking off heart. When you read and promote your documented program everywhere you go, it begin to sink into everyone and everywhere. My Bible teaches me that: Faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God. Go read about the psychology of repetition. You will discover that once you leave the campaign ground, unconsciously, those words will begin to reverberate in your head.”
