Team’s main captain Abdülkerim Bardakcı was replaced in the 74th minute.
As he left the pitch, he handed the captain’s armband to Osimhen, indicating his wish for the Nigerian international to be the captain for the remainder of the game.
However, Osimhen declined to wear it, passing the armband to Yunus Akgün and suggesting the attacking midfielder should be the one to lead the team.
Osimhen’s decision surprised Akgün, who tried to persuade him to take the armband, but the former African Footballer of the Year stood his ground.
Okan Buruk, the Galatasaray manager, had said he wanted Osimhen to be one of the club’s captains next season after Mauro Icardi’s departure.
