Troops of Operation HADIN KAI (OPHK) have neutralized a terrorist leader, his cameraman, and several insurgents in Borno State, the Joint Task Force (North East) confirmed on Friday.
Lieutenant Colonel Sani Uba, Media Information Officer for OPHK, revealed that the operation took place on Thursday, targeting terrorists who had been operating from the Mandara Mountains. The insurgents attempted to infiltrate a military base in Bitta but were met with coordinated defensive fire from the troops.
According to the statement:
“At about 0030 hours on 18 December 2025, troops, supported by advanced surveillance systems, detected terrorists advancing towards

According to the statement:
“At about 0030 hours on 18 December 2025, troops, supported by advanced surveillance systems, detected terrorists advancing towards the area. Exercising tactical restraint, troops allowed the terrorists to move into effective engagement range before engaging. This resulted in the elimination of several insurgents, including a key terrorist leader and his cameraman.”
Air Component precision strikes followed the initial engagement, further decimating retreating terrorists and disrupting their escape routes.
Troops subsequently conducted thorough area exploitation, recovering a range of weapons and equipment, including AK-47 rifles, PKT machine guns, bandoliers, magazines, handheld radios, mobile phones, motorcycles, bicycles, and a camcorder. Evidence of additional terrorist casualties, such as blood trails and shallow graves, was also discovered.
The statement emphasized that troops’ morale remains high as operations continue to ensure the security of local communities and deny terrorists freedom of action.
