After a three-day official visit to Turkey, President Muhammadu Buhari returned to Abuja yesterday.
The president, who arrived at Nnamdi Azikwe International Airport’s presidential wing at about 4.35 p.m. in a Nigerian Air Force 1 Presidential jet, was immediately ferried to State House, Abuja, in a chopper.

Prof Ibrahim Gambari, President Buhari’s Chief of Staff; Boss Mustapha, Secretary to the Government of the Federation; Tijjani Idris Umar, Permanent Secretary, State House; Abubakar Maikano, his Administrative Officer; and his son, Yusuf Buhari, who was turbanned Talban Daura on Saturday, were all present to welcome President Buhari to the State House.

Gambari then presented the President with a large card to commemorate his 79th birthday, which was celebrated last Friday in Istanbul, Turkey.

Last Thursday, President Buhari left Abuja with his wife, Aisha, six ministers, and two other top government officials to attend the Turkey-Africa Partnership Summit in Istanbul, which was hosted by Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

The Ministers of Foreign Affairs, Geoffrey Onyeama; Defense, Maj-Gen. Bashir Magashi (rtd); FCT, Mohammed Bello; Health, Dr. Osagie Ehanire; Agriculture, Mohammed Abubakar; Industry, Trade and Investment, Adeniyi Adebayo; National Security Adviser, Maj-Gen. Babagana Monguno (rtd); and the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ambassador Ahmed Rufai

The summit’s theme was “Enhanced Partnership for Common Development and Prosperity,” and the agenda included a review of African-Turkish cooperation since the previous summit in 2014.
